'From the time I could pick up a crayon, I have been completely captivated by the portrait, human and animal. Each face is unique yet universal, and can serve as my alter ego as well as a narrative painting. The face is a map to the soul, a revelation of universal archetypes. It satisfies my never-ending curiosity about people and is a rich, infinite source of my creativity.'

'My subjects come from observing the world around me. It might be a person’s expression, musicians, my cats sleeping together in silly positions or models from my drawing group. A vibrantly colored paper, a medium or a technique may lead me to a new series. I also take inspiration from art history, particularly the Italian and Northern Renaissance periods, Neoclassical portraits, and of course, Holbein. It’s always a surprise to see what will trigger my creative impulses.'
