Bianca Dorso, a photographer whose inspiration comes from the 'wild & beautiful' of the window...

'FUNNY, DARK, DIFFERENT

WILD, BEAUTIFUL, FRIGHTENING

SAD, ANGRY, CREEPY

FASCINATING, STYLISH, OLD FASHIONED

In the dark of night, finding these manniquins, these tableaux,

I felt like a voyeur. I was seeing a piece of a story I didn't

recognize, couldn't explain, not sure I understood. I could

not pass them by.

I am still fascinated by their beauty and their emotion.

The majority of these photos are pieces of window dressing found

around the city of West Hollywood.'

The Beautiful...

'Mannequin with Bear', archival pigment print, 24 x 20 inches.

'I started out in photography at 50. I bought a camera on a whim and challenged myself to learn to use it. I shot a few rolls of Black and White film. It was suggested I take a darkroom class and so I did.

The first time I put a blank white piece of paper in the developer and an image began to appear I knew this was it, magic.

I was hooked. For many years I shot only Black & White.

In the early 2000's I moved to Las Vegas. Looking for a darkroom I was directed to Community College of Southern Nevada. The college had just finished a brand new 'communications' wing complete with

classrooms of brand new Mac Computers. I used the darkroom and avoided 'digital' photography. The head of the photo department loaned me a digital camera over one summer.

I shot a lot of photo's with that camera. Which of course pushed me into digital darkroom. I had no computer experience and found the whole process frustrating and close to impossible.

It took quite a while to learn Photoshop.

I perservered and found digital darkroom mind expanding. It enables so many things, color work, composites, low light photography. So many things.

Today I shoot only digital. I work in Photoshop and print my own 'test' prints. The Icon Photo Lab prints my larger work.

All are printed archival, on an Sommerset Velvet Fine Art paper.'
