Bianca Dorso, a Photographer of Word and Beauty.

"I started out in photography at the age of 50. I bought a camera, on a whim and challenged myself to learn to use it.

I shot a few rolls of black and white film. It was suggested that I take a darkroom class and so I did. The first time I put a blank white piece of photo paper in the developer and an image began to appear, I knew this was it. Magic! I was hooked.

For many years, I shot only in black and white."

'Teatro', ( couple ) archival pigment print, 36 x 36 inches

"In the early 2000's I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Looking for a darkroom, I was directed to the Community College of Southern Nevada. The college had just finished building a brand new 'communications' wing, complete with classrooms equipped with brand new Mac computers. I used the darkroom and avoided digital photography.

One day the head of the photo department loaned me a digital camera to use over the following summer. I shot a lot of photos with that camera... which of course, pushed me into a digital darkroom.

I had no computer experience and found the whole process frustrating and close to impossible! It took quite awhile to learn Photoshop.

I persevered and found the digital darkroom experience mind expanding. It enables so many things; color work, composites, low light photography and more!

Today, I shoot only digital.

POLOROID

"The polaroid series was shot with a Polaroid Land Camera, an instant camera. In the heat ( on the hood of a car for instance ) using a toothpick as a tool, I am able to manipulate the image as soon as it comes out of the camera, as if to imitate a painting. Unfortunately, the Polaroid camera no longer exists today. It is so sad."

'Hot Dog Stand' manipulated polaroid, 11 x 11 inches All prints can be made up to 16 x 16 inches.

CHANEL

"The Chanel Series started as ink and watercolor drawings. I then photographed them, scanned them into my computer and manipulated the colors further."

'Chanel with Purple Aqua Neck', ink, watercolor, photographed and manipulated on paper, 11 x 11 inches

All prints can be printed up to 16 x 16 inches
