Highlights of the Water-Line Exhibition Opening Reception

The Water-Line Inspiration for Change Exhibition opened with a big splash on the evening of May 23rd! The gallery was filled to capacity with crowds seeking the enigmatic artworks on display.

The show consists of forty-four women artists living here locally, nationally, and abroad. Studio C Gallery Director Peggy Nichols, along with the Director/Curator of Pitzer College Art Galleries, Ciara Ennis, and Artist/Curator of Southern California Women’s Caucus for Art, “Forbidden Language: Beauty and Culture,” Olivia Sanchez Brown, curated the Water-Line Exhibition.

Each artist’s work uniquely envisions the relationship between women and water, and how that correlates to the current condition in our environment, our selves, and the sublime. Each work stands strongly on its own.

In addition to the Water-Line exhibition, Studio C Gallery is doing its part in raising awareness and donations for our sponsor Los Angeles Waterkeeper. “Founded in 1993, LA Waterkeeper’s mission is to protect and restore Santa Monica Bay, San Pedro Bay, and adjacent waters through enforcement, fieldwork, and community action. We work to achieve this goal through litigation and regulatory programs that ensure water quality protections in waterways throughout L.A. County.” Following the closing reception, there will be an auction to benefit LA Waterkeeper through Paddle 8 Auctions commencing July 9th through July 23rd.
